Desi power: Indians must feel proud to travel & work abroad
Rising from strength to strength and gaining global prominence has made London a lucrative destination for ambitious Indians. Since the city boasts of being a centre of culture, government and industry, it drew scores of international tourists all-year-long, thereby also boosting business and tourism.

The Royal families over the previous years, added much to the London scene for today’s traveller: the Albert Memorial, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Royal Albert Hall, Tower of London, Kew Palace and Westminster Abbey are some of the fine examples.

The city tours touch upon these attractions on a daily basis, well-suited with an Asian twist. Today, London wears the bejewelled crown of being the largest city in the United Kingdom, eight times larger than the second largest, Birmingham, and 10 times larger than the third, Glasgow (where many Indian sportsmen bagged medals at the recent Commonwealth Games), and dominates the economic, political and social life of the nation.

Indians love the life here as there’s amazing choice of galleries, museums, parks, business places, educational institutions and big ticket organisations. Now, we bet you have a relative, friend or acquaintance in London, for sure. That’s because a survey affirms that Indians are London’s largest non-white ethnic minority group.

Indian festivals are celebrated with elan in London and that only adds to the city’s flavour. Diwali brings Indians from all across London to get together and celebrate. It’s interesting to note that the largest Hindu temple in Europe — Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, is located in Neasden, London.
