Have you heard of ‘Modern Winter Biathlon’? This amazing combination of cross country skiing along with rifle shooting has been attracting many visitors to Chamonix, of late. What you need is good fitness levels coupled with patience and control.

Try your hand at this Olympic sport amidst majestic mountains and then try the rifle shooting with lasers. Enquire about Biathlon lessons in cross-country skiing area by the Bois de Bouchet.

An apt option for beginners is a trip to Argentiere. This village is situated 8 km north of Chamonix at an altitude of around 1,250 metres.

When you reach here, many families with beginners in tow can be seen heading to this hamlet whilst admiring its location at the foot of the Argentière Glacier and the peaks such as the Aiguille Verte. This is a fabulous spot for family pictures and frame-worthy memoirs.

The sport of ‘Tobogganing’ is widely popular with people now and it is almost the same as sledding. A toboggan has a perching area where a small group of people and kids can sit right behind each other and go sliding down snow-covered slopes.

Do you know the spot where Ernest Hemmingway himself used to go to for his walks in the 1920s? Perhaps here is where you can get the same feel, head to Cedarvale. It is popular for tobogganing groups and has a few steep hills where the path to sled is wide and clear.

Also, visit the Winston Churchill Park. Toboggan enthusiasts can take the path from the St Clair or Spadina intersection that lead you to a nice steep ahead.
