There are some tourist attractions that can’t be missed: The Vatican in Rome, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Berlin Wall in Germany. These are the kinds of places every tourist wants to visit. However, there are plenty of places to see that are off the radar. For instance, if you’re planning on visiting Spain, most friends would suggest Madrid, Barcelona, Cordoba, Valencia, Seville and more. But, we’re here to break the clutter.

We at ET-Travel take some efforts to bring to the fore destinations that are beautiful, inspiring and yet not very touristy. Well, this doesn’t highlight ignorance, it simply means we are attempting to re-adjust and re-focus the lens of the traveller’s camera. The pleasure of discovering a destination rarely (or never) heard of, can be immense. Imagine the joy of holidaying there, indulging in their local cuisine, visiting the local markets, understanding their culture and capturing their customs and rituals on candid camera. Are you already feeling the thrill of discovering new destinations? Guess, it’s time to be the trendsetter yet again, but this time think wisely about planning your next vacation.

MALAGA REGION: Andalusia, Europe

Known for its charming, majestic, unfinished Gothic cathedral, Malaga is a blend of traditional and modern architecture. The history for Malaga spans about 2,800 years, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. It was founded by the Phoenicians as Malaka about 770 BC, and from the 6th century BC was under the hegemony of Ancient Carthage. Malaga is also a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture. The best time to visit Malaga is April to November.

EVENT: Beginning from August 16 to 23, Malaga will host its annual fair also known as Feria de Agosto. Expect horse drawn carriages, live music, artists showcasing their latest works, bullfights and everyone drinking a lot of beer and wine. The fair dates back more than 500 years and commemorates Malaga becoming part of the Crown of Castile. www.spain.info
