In a series of inspiring conversations with iconic women achievers, whose creativity and commitment to their craft make them distinctive, Zoya from the House of Tata, presents ‘Finely Crafted Journeys’.
A recent guest for the conversation was Myleeta Aga, SVP and GM, South and South East Asia for BBC Studios.
She is often listed among the 25 most powerful women in television globally, well recognised for her role on shows like the Emmy-winning series, 'Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations', 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' and also for bringing BBC’s iconic brands — 'BBC Earth' and 'BBC First' to Indian audiences.
What inspired you to pursue your craft of content creation and curation? I discovered theatre in college and enjoyed communicating with audiences through story-telling…but I also wanted to write, run a business and create. Being a producer brings all these skills together.

It may not have been the largest necklace, but it made news for its centrepiece — the biggest-ever D-flawless diamond to be up for auction. In 2017, ‘The Art of de GRISOGONO’ emerald and diamond necklace fetched $33.7 million at a Christie’s auction in Geneva. The exquisite necklace, made by Swiss jeweller de Grisogono, had a 163-carat diamond at its centre. The necklace went to an anonymous buyer. It took a team of 14 craftsmen working for over 1,700 hours to create the piece.

In 2015, a ring with the largest pink diamond was auctioned by Christie’s in Geneva and sold to a Hong Kong billionaire businessman Joseph Lau for $28.5 million. Named ‘Sweet Josephine’ after Lau’s then seven-year-old daughter Josephine, the ring is set with a cushion-shaped fancy vivid pink diamond, weighing approximately 16.08 carats, surrounded by more diamonds and mounted in platinum and gold. Billionaire Lau, a convicted felon and fugitive, bought a blue diamond the next day from Sotheby’s, naming it the Blue Moon of Josephine Diamond. It was speculated that Lau was laundering money with these purchases.

Working with talented and passionate, creative people, building cohesive teams and enabling people to be the best version of themselves at work.
What does creativity mean to you? Taking ideas from conception to a finished piece like a film, involves many people — writers, technical crew, spot boys. Everyone has to put their best craft forward and work as a team at the same time. When it all comes together to create memorable experiences for audiences, it is such a great reward. Many of us remember our childhood through the shows we watched or our first film. To have been a part of making those moments possible for someone, that’s a powerful motivator.
Zoya and me... Producing something memorable is a craft that needs inspiration and skill. Zoya’s jewellery, like a well-made show, translates creativity into a versatile and beautifully crafted product, something that can be cherished.
