The Apple Watch Ultra, which went on sale from September 23 and is available at a starting price of Rs 89,900, was tested by a YouTuber who subjected it to several hardcore tests to check his durability and sturdiness.
When tech giant Apple unveiled its new smartwatch the Watch Ultra at the ‘Far Out’ event earlier in September, it launched it as the company’s "most rugged and capable Apple Watch ever."
Apple called it the "ultimate sports watch" that was crafted with painstaking attention to details in order to offer unparalleled performance.
Now the same Apple Watch Ultra, which went on sale from September 23 and is available at a starting price of Rs 89,900, was tested by a YouTuber who subjected it to several hardcore tests to check his durability and sturdiness.
Apple Watch UltraThe YouTube channel TechRax dropped Apple’s brand news Watch Ultra and also subjected it to a jar of nails. He also repeatedly smashed Apple Watch Ultra with a hammer to see how durable the sapphire crystal protecting the display is.
The smartwatch's unique design rises up to surround the flat sapphire crystal and protect it from edge impacts. The Digital Crown of Apple Watch Ultra is larger and the side button raised from the case, which makes it easier to use even when you are wearing gloves.
The YouTuber dropped the Apple Watch Ultra from around four feet high, then mixed in a jar full of nails. But the watch suffered no major damage or visible marks on the body. With the Apple Watch Ultra, the tech giant aims to compete directly with Garmin.

TechRax also tested the durability of the Apple Watch Ultra's sapphire crystal display cover by repeatedly hitting it with a hammer. In the test, the watch withstood repeated hits with the hammer until it finally cracked, and only after the table took some damage first. While the Apple Watch Ultra's display did not initially take damage, the watch did fail to turn on after repeated hits.
The failure to power on could indicate that while the sapphire may not have broken at first, some internal components may have suffered damage.
