A restaurant in Andhra Pradesh recently made a once-in-a-lifetime offer for food lovers. Rajbhog Restaurant provided a desi buffet at just 5 paise! According to a report by the news agency ANI, the eatery located at Vijayawada was offering an “unlimited thali” with not less than 35 dishes to customers… all for this paltry sum of money! The dishes included in the thali originate from several states in North India like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, etc.

The restaurant owner told the news agency that this meal was offered as part of a marketing strategy. The first 50 thalis were served completely free of cost. Around 1000 customers paid 5 paise for a thali. “Yesterday was a very successful event, we didn't expect this much of a crowd. We were expecting only 300-400 customers but our post went viral and it became famous within three days. It's a very unique way of promotion. So we promoted with the 5 paise offer, “ informed the owner to the news agency. The offer however was valid for one day only. The day after they offered a 50 per cent discount and offered the thali at Rs 210. The owners added, “The main concept of this offer was that Yesterday, we had a convention hall named 'Mandap' which is on the first floor. So we wanted to put these food items in Mandap and to show people that our restaurant serves this type of food."


The owners revealed that the main reason why they made such a huge offer was to introduce South Indians to North Indian food. This was an opportunity to familiarise the local people with North Indian food.

Now that so many people have filled in love with the dishes, several of them won’t mind shelling out Rs 420 per thali!

Not a bad marketing strategy at all, what say? After all the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!
