Dhurandhar: The Revenge has finally hit theatres and is already creating a storm at the box office. With paid previews opening on March 18, audiences rushed to catch the first shows of the much-awaited sequel starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar. The film had been surrounded by intense buzz and fan speculation, many of which have now been confirmed after its release, especially Yami Gautam's role in the movie.

Among the most discussed rumours before the premiere was the possibility of Yami Gautam making a cameo appearance. The speculation turned out to be true, as the actress appears in a short but crucial scene, which is currently talk of the town.

What is Yami Gautam's role in Dhurandhar 2?

Yami Gautam features in the second half of the film in a tense hospital sequence that plays a key role in advancing the plot. She is seen dressed as a nurse attending to a patient who is secretly one of Hamza Ali Mazari’s important targets. In a shocking twist, her character kills the patient after delivering a brief line of dialogue.



As she exits, she notices Hamza, played by Ranveer Singh, standing at the doorway. The two exchange a silent nod, hinting at a deeper connection and shared mission.

Though the scene lasts only a few moments, it carries huge narrative weight. The cameo establishes the presence of undercover Indian operatives working within Pakistan. However, audiences expecting a direct connection to Uri: The Surgical Strike were surprised. Yami’s character is not linked to her role from that film. Instead, she is introduced under the alias “Shazia Bano,” a name that viewers might recognise from her earlier project Haq.

Despite its brevity, the cameo has been widely discussed online, with many calling it a blink-and-miss appearance that attentive viewers will appreciate. Before the film’s release, Yami Gautam had spoken highly of the sequel. She said, "I have already watched Dhurandhar 2. It is beyond extraordinary. I was really emotional. I had to catch a flight that day so I couldn't say anything to Aditya but later, I couldn't do anything. I had to read a script but I couldn't, I had to watch something but I couldn't. I was just watching the beautiful sunset outside and wondering what will I tell Aditya when the flight lands. I wanted to justify my feelings on the film and what I experienced. Aditya loves his audience and the country and he has given his life's effort to make this film. Dhurandhar 2 will be an experience that audience will never forget."

Directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film also reprises the role of Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi and R Madhavan. The sequel follows Hamza Ali Mazari’s rise to power in Karachi’s Lyari area after the murder of Rehman Dakait (played by Akshaye Khanna), where he becomes a feared leader while secretly working to dismantle anti-India operations from within. The film also features an ensemble cast, including returning characters and new additions that expand the storyline’s scale.
