World Whisky Day: Five cocktails that you just can't miss
It's World Whisky Day on Saturday, and it's all about enjoying your whisky as you like it. Ice, water, soda or as a yummy cocktail, whatever works for you!

If you fit in the last category, i.e. a whisky cocktail is your poison, we have put together five delectable recipes from some of Delhi's best mixologists.

Absinthe but present, a homage to the New Orleans classic Sazerac

Ingredients

Orange bitter: 4 dash
Castor white sugar: 1 bar spoon
Jim Beam: 60ml
Absinthe: 5ml (only to rinse the glass)

Method
- Mix together
- Serve in an old fashioned glass with a big block of square ice & garnish with candied orange.

Whisky Sour, an all-time favourite

Ingredients
Bourbon whisky: 60ml
Lime juice: 15 ml
Sugar syrup: 15 ml
Egg white: 1

Method
- Shake all the ingredients together and serve either straight up or over ice.

The New York Sour, a different take on the classic

Ingredients
Bourbon: 60 ml
Fruity red ( Shiraz / Malbec): 60 ml
Simple syrup: 10 ml
Freshly squeezed lemon juice: 10 ml

Method
- Add all the ingredients and shake well with ice.
- Strain and pour into a margarita glass.
- Garnish with an orange rind twirl and serve immediately.


The Whisky tanned Apricot

Ingredients
Blended Scotch Whisky (Red Label or above): 50 ml
Almond liqeur: 5 ml
Fresh apricot slices: 5-7
Brown sugar: A tsp
Lemon juice

Method
- Gently muddle fresh apricot slices with brown sugar.
- Add all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and gently shake with ice cubes and pour in a rocks glass without straining.
- Garnish with thinly sliced, dehydrated apricot slices.

Twisted Manhattan

Ingredients
Bourbon: 50 ml
Sweet Vermouth: 10 ml
Fresh raspberry puree: 5 ml
Angostura bitters: A dash

Method
- Fill a cocktail mixing glass with ice. Pour in all the ingredients.
- Stir gently ensuring all components are properly mixed and the drink becomes completely chilled (but not diluted).
- Strain in a chilled glass of your choice.
- Garnish with an orange twist.
