World Tourism Day: New York & Bangkok are the most searched destinations for Indian travellers
NEW DELHI: London, Paris, New York and Bangkok are the most searched destinations for Indian travelers who travel for three days on an average for domestic trips and six days for international holidays. These are some of the findings of the APAC travel trends forecast of homestay provider Airbnb on the occasion of World Tourism Day on Tuesday.

Among domestic destinations, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pondicherry, Lonavala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai were cited as the most popular choices for Indian tourists, and Dussehra, Christmas, and new year were the top seasons to travel.

"Domestic bookings in the region see travelers taking quicker and more impulsive decisions to travel as compared to international bookings. While travelers spend more time and money on their international travel, domestic travel is reserved for shorter trips spent at properties available within a lower price range. Solo travel is becoming increasingly common among the Asian urban population, as they discover themselves through unique cultures," Airbnb said in a statement.

Airbnb said that with 380% outbound and 390% inbound growth in the last year, the Asia region has been the fastest growing market for the brand.

Amsterdam, Dubai, Rome, Copenhagen, Bali, Singapore were the other popular destinations for Indian tourists.

Besides Paris, London and New York, Tokyo, Taiwan, Seoul, Sydney, Kyoto, Bali and Phuket were the top destinations for Chinese tourists who travelled for two and four days respectively for local and global trips. Airbnb said Indian solo travellers prefer traveling internationally and that solo travel is big in India and Japan. Japanese and Korean travelers liked traveling to Bangkok, Sokcho, and Rome while Australians preferred Bali, Tokyo and Los Angeles besides London and Paris.
