Gopal Jeyaraj shares how he is making the most of the Covid-19 lockdown.
Gopal Jeyaraj, Head (India & SAARC), Anker Innovations, has office hours that have always been a mix of Indian-international time zones. Working from home has helped the charging technology company boss balance his professional and personal life effectively.

He told ET Panache, "I personally believe that working from home renders a flexible working pattern. For me, it has also helped enhance my productivity level and the efficiency of my work. I am utilising my time in analytical and strategic research to plan the next steps once the lock down is lifted."

Jeyaraj sometimes feels loneliness and lack of human interaction from his co-workers. "The key here is to stay connected and recreate social contact using video conferencing. Using the right technology, helps to establish the sudden lost connect with the employees. This not only helps the team to be together, but also keeps employees happy and productive," he explained

Jeyaraj, who calls himself a techie, has been using Zoom a lot. "It allows me to have F2F discussion with my team. For personal tracking, I have been using Evernote application to organise and also sort my tasks intuitively across multiple notepads by adding anecdotes to shared tasks and reminders," he said.

Like he would have it on any other regular day, Jeyaraj's mornings start quite early, followed by a quick workout. "I then align all my tasks involving interactions with the team to clients, important operations to work upon in the day and start with my work. Working from home is an altogether different experience. It makes me more focussed and diligent because of the least interference. Post my ‘Indian office hours’, I make sure to spend some quality time with my family and then go back to connect with international counterparts," he shared.

The Anker Innovations head's working hours are usually extended than usual to match up with the timings of international counterparts. "I have learnt, to balance. At this time period, I make sure I follow my daily fitness routine. Apart from exercise, I also watch what I eat. I follow healthy intake of food prepared from wholegrain bread and mixed-grain rice with some green vegetables and lentils fueling me with right the calorie intake. A combination of a healthy diet plan with regular workout is the secret to my fitness," Jeyaraj ended.
