Woodland’s Harkirat Singh says that leather bans have not hurt industry
In conversation with Harkirat Singh, MD, Woodland Worldwide, on the future of leather in India

"I don't think the industry has suffered much. We use a variety of leather, along with Indian leather for our products and have never had any problem when it comes to sourcing. The materials are sourced from the best places across India.

Our country is one of the biggest leather manufacturers in the world because of the amount of cattle, sheep and goats we have.

In that sense, I don't think we have any dearth of leather in India. But illegal slaughtering is bad, so strict laws are needed. The quality of the leather also improves if sourced legitimately - by procuring licences and following rules.
