‘Wonderful to see desi representation.’ Priyanka Chopra lauds Netflix for showing Indian culture in ‘Bridgerton' S2

Season 2 of the sensational period drama ‘Bridgerton’ is streaming on Netflix. Not just that, the series has been making waves across the globe ever since it dropped its second season. The show created by producer-screenwriter Shonda Rhimes is winning accolades for its production quality as well for assimilating diverse cultures into its narrative.

The second season of the show has been garnering praise for showcasing Indian culture, especially through its characters Kate Sharma and Edwina Sharma essayed to perfection by Indian-origin actresses Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran respectively.

Among the long list of admirers of the show is former Miss World Priyanka Chopra. The 39-year-old actor recently took to Instagram to heap praise on the creators of the show. Chopra went on to say what a wonderful feeling it was to see ‘desi’ representation on mainstream TV.


In her short Instagram Story, the acclaimed actress recollected her formative days when such representations were an anomaly. Chopra ended her post by expressing her admiration and love for the Sharma sisters.

“I have to say..it's so wonderful to see desi representation on mainstream TV. It was such an anomaly when I started. Love the show and the Sharma sisters,” wrote Chopra on her Story adding the hashtag ‘Representation matters’. She also tagged the lead actors and the creator of the show.

On the work front, Chopra was last seen in ‘The Matrix Resurrection’. The actress, who is also a successful producer, will be next seen in ‘Text For You’ and ‘Citadel’.
