Although everyone wants Farah Khan to return as a director, with fans repeatedly waiting for an update and even petitions being filed for her next film, it is her YouTube channel that is currently stealing the show. From celebrity home tours to cooking sessions and candid conversations, Farah’s digital venture has built its own audience. Now, a content creator has gone a step further and publicly pitched herself for a job on Farah’s YouTube production team.

The viral job pitch came from content creator Ashima Sahni, who shared a video explaining why she would happily leave her current “cosy” IT job for an opportunity with Farah Khan’s team. Her pitch was not just about the work. The video eventually caught Farah’s attention, and the filmmaker had a response for her.

Why does Ashima want to work with Farah Khan?

In her video, Ashima explained that she has a comfortable job but is willing to consider leaving it for what she considers a more exciting opportunity. She said her husband initially laughed at her idea and found it strange that she would want to give up a stable job for a role in a YouTube production crew.

But Ashima had her reasons. In her pitch, she imagined the kind of experiences that could come with working for Farah. Among them was the possibility of eating kanda bhindi at Jackie Shroff’s farmhouse or enjoying biryani at Shabana Azmi’s home.

While the food references made the video entertaining, Ashima also had a serious professional argument behind her pitch.

‘Compensation is more than salary’

Ashima explained that, "Compensation is salary, but most people are busy negotiating only for that. But the real game is to negotiate for intangibles too." According to her, there are other benefits that can also have significant value in the long run.

She pointed to flexibility, RSUs and, most importantly, the chance to build strong professional connections. In the case of Farah’s YouTube team, she believes the networking opportunities could be particularly valuable.

Ashima compared the value of such connections to the kind of professional network people might spend a significant amount of money trying to build through formal education or business programmes.

Her argument was simple: a job should not only be judged by the salary package. The experiences, flexibility and people one gets to work with can also become an important part of career growth.

She directly tagged Farah Khan

Ashima did not leave her pitch as a general social media post. She directly tagged Farah Khan and asked whether there was an opportunity to join her YouTube production crew.

The post was captioned “Dream job, and I am not lying”, making it clear that while the video was humorous, she was genuinely interested in the possibility of working with the filmmaker.

The unconventional approach soon caught attention online, but the biggest moment came when Farah herself noticed the post.

What did Farah Khan say?

Farah Khan responded to Ashima in the comments and asked her to send a direct message. The filmmaker wrote, "Heyyy dm me I'll put u in touch with the right person in my team."

Farah’s response does not mean that Ashima has landed the job. However, the filmmaker has offered to connect her with the relevant person on her team, turning what started as a playful social media pitch into a potentially real professional opportunity.

Farah Khan’s YouTube channel crosses 3 million subscribers

Farah Khan launched her official YouTube channel in April 2024, and it has since become a major digital platform for the filmmaker. The channel has crossed 3.19 million subscribers and features a mix of celebrity interviews, home visits, cooking videos and informal conversations.

One of the recurring attractions is Farah’s cooking content with her cook Dilip, where Bollywood celebrities often join her for relaxed conversations away from the usual interview setup. Actors including Mouni Roy, Rhea Chakraborty and Saba Ibrahim have featured in her videos.
