The software major took feedback from users and created Windows 10, Pramanik said. The new operating system by the company will be released next month on July 29.

Ahead of the launch, Pramanik shared his thoughts on the OS with the audience at an event at Indian School of Design and Innovation (ISDI) in Mumbai. He was at the institute for the launch of a new design accelerator program. "Windows 10 is taking Windows 7, learning the design mistakes of Windows 8 and creating what we call Windows 10," he said.

"What's different in Windows 10 is that you have one platform that runs on mobile phones, tablets, PCs (personal computers), Xbox, on the big screen. It also runs on the internet of things. So all of a sudden what you have is an operating system and a common user interface across all of these different kinds of form factors," Pramanik said.
