'Will stand by him till my dying breath': Celina Jaitley reacts after High Court says her brother, currently detained in UAE, doesn’t want to contact her. Actress shares why
The Delhi High Court has closed Celina Jaitley's plea for access to her brother, Vikrant Jaitley, detained in the UAE. Vikrant Jaitley reportedly does not want to communicate with his sister. Recently, Celina Jaitley reacted to it and shared that ...

Why Celina Jaitly's brother Vikrant doesn't want to communicate with her?
Taking to Instagram, Celina wrote a detailed note explaining the situation from her point of view. She said she last spoke to her brother in August 2024, just days before his detention in September. According to her, he was initially held in undisclosed conditions for several months before being moved to a detention facility in the Middle East, where he has now spent over a year with limited and controlled access. In her post, the actor said, "I cannot speculate on what my brother may have been advised or told in detention. He is extremely protective of me and has no visibility of what is happening in the outside world. Given my current circumstances, it is possible that he may have received partial information and is trying to shield me from further financial and emotional strain. In such circumstances, any decision taken by a detainee must be viewed in context."
Celina further noted that her brother has reportedly declined communication with other family members as well, not just her. She urged people to view his decision in context, especially considering the pressures that detainees often face. For her, the primary concern remains his well-being, both physical and mental, rather than the lack of contact.
Clarifying her legal move, Celina emphasised that her petition was never about personal access alone. She said her intention was to ensure that her brother receives proper legal representation and that his rights are protected. She also acknowledged the role of the Government of India, stating that consular officials have been in touch with her brother multiple times and have encouraged him to accept legal assistance.
"Until I am able to see my brother and speak to him directly, there is nothing that I can conclusively adhere to… I know my brother.. He is my first baby. I stand by him till my dying breath!"

During the hearing, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav observed that the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi had met Vikrant several times since his detention. According to PTI, the court was informed that he had clearly stated that decisions regarding legal representation would be taken by his wife, not his sister. Based on these submissions, the court questioned Celina’s legal standing in the matter and chose to close the proceedings. The court also noted that Vikrant had declined legal help suggested by Celina, including pro bono services from a UAE-based law firm. Requests made by her counsel for a video call between the siblings were not accepted, with the court stating that it must rely on official inputs provided by government authorities and consular interactions.
