Will Smith to play father of tennis icons Venus & Serena Williams in biopic 'King Richard'

Australian player Bernard Tomic was fined $15,000 — the second highest recorded penalty in Wimbledon’s history — in 2017 after he admitted in a post-match press conference that he faked an injury during his first-round loss against German Mischa Zverev. Tomic also claimed to be “bored” with Wimbledon.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was fined $10,026 by the NFL for a lewd gesture he made during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in December 2018. Following one of his three touchdown passes in a 26–18 win over the Bengals, Mayfield ran to the sideline and celebrated by gesturing below the belt. This was the first time Mayfield was fined for his celebratory gestures.

In September 2018, English fast bowler James Anderson was fined 15 per cent of his match fee and one demerit point was added to his record for showing dissent to the umpire during a Test against India. An agitated Anderson snatched his cap and jumper and spoke to umpire Kumar Dharmasena aggressively following an unsuccessful leg-before-wicket review against Virat Kohli. Anderson accepted the charge that he breached the Code of Conduct.

Uruguay’s Luis Suarez was banned from all football-related activities for four months after biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup. This eliminated Suarez from the rest of the World Cup, in addition to a $111,000 fine. This was Suarez’s third incident of biting. “Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and, in particular, not at a World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field,” said Claudio Sulser, the chair of the disciplinary committee.

Serena Williams lost the final of the 2018 US Open to Japan’s Naomi Osaka. The match was full of drama and Williams was cited three times for code violations. Williams called the chair umpire Carlos Ramos a “liar” and a “thief”. She also alleged that she was being treated differently from the male players. Williams was fined $17,000 for her on-court outbursts.
