Will selfie for vote click with voters in India too?

In Spain, the best upper sets do it,/ Lithuanians and Lapps do it;/ Kim does it, Kanye does it;/ Even Pope Francis does it;/ Some Greeks without means do it/ People say in Washington even the Obamas do it.… With apologies to Cole Porter and the universal sentiment that let him to warble Let's Fall In Love back in 1928, it's all about selfies now. And everyone sure is doing it. With over a million selfies snapped and posted every day, it is not surprising that US presidential hopefuls smell free advertising and branding opportunities. Crowds are getting bored with the usual rounds of kissing babies, pumping hands and stumping in the boondocks. So, since social media comes in pretty handy as a force multiplier, scheduled selfie-stop here and there can pay off handsomely for campaigns. To save candidates' time, the political group-selfie, or 'us-ie' — perfected by our own Prime Minister on foreign jaunts — has proved a welcome modification.

Let's face it: thanks to this phenomenon, being non-selfieish now means being selfish. Therefore, no political aspirant can risk not clicking with his or her audience, even if it is too new still to determine conversion rates of selfies into votes. Whether they translate into wins or not, for any politician, it would be time to worry only if and when the crowds stop asking for selfies.
