Celina responds to defamation threats
The controversy began after legal notices were sent to Celina on behalf of Peter Haag and Wolfgang Haag. According to the notices, the actress allegedly made false and defamatory statements through social media posts, interviews and other public interactions while matrimonial and custody proceedings remain pending in Austrian courts. In response, Celina issued a detailed statement through her legal representatives at Karanjawala & Co. She argued that discussing her own experiences and pursuing legal remedies should not be considered defamation.
The actress claimed that the notices were an attempt to shift attention away from ongoing legal matters, including police complaints, allegations of violence and issues currently being examined by courts and authorities.
"I will not remain silent"
In a lengthy statement shared publicly, Celina made it clear that she has no intention of backing down.Celina stated that as a mother pursuing joint custody, she believes it is both her right and responsibility to raise such concerns publicly when necessary.
She further alleged that, "I have long felt subjected to pressure, intimidation, and attacks on my rights while living in a remote Austrian village, specifically as a woman who lost both her parents. All evidence has been placed before competent authorities and honourable courts across jurisdictions. What appears to trouble some is not that I have spoken, but that I have refused to remain silent. I had the courage to leave, stand up for myself, seek the return of what I believe is rightfully mine, protect my relationship with my children, and pursue justice through lawful means. I believe efforts are now being made to discredit, intimidate, and silence me."
Allegations of abuse and intimidation
In her statement, Celina also made serious allegations regarding her marriage. She claimed that she endured years of abuse and that her premarital assets were transferred under circumstances she has challenged.Celina further alleged that efforts were being made to discredit and intimidate her after she chose to seek legal remedies and fight for what she believes are her rights.
FIR registered against Peter Haag
The legal dispute has also extended beyond the divorce proceedings. According to reports, Mumbai Police recently registered an FIR against Peter Haag following a complaint filed by Celina. He has reportedly been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to alleged physical violence, cruelty, criminal intimidation and harassment.Authorities are currently collecting evidence and statements as part of the ongoing investigation. The allegations remain under investigation, and no court has ruled on the claims.
For the unversed, Celina Jaitly married Peter Haag in 2010 after stepping away from mainstream Bollywood. The couple welcomed twin boys in 2012 and another set of twins in 2017. However, one of the infants passed away shortly after birth.
Their relationship has now become the subject of a highly public legal dispute spanning multiple jurisdictions. While Peter Haag reportedly filed for divorce in Austria last year, the custody and legal battles continue.
As the proceedings move forward, Celina has made it clear that she intends to continue speaking about her experiences and pursuing her case through the courts, despite the legal notices and ongoing challenges.
