Ricardo visited a private hospital in Itapema, Santa Catarina, for the tattoo, where he tragically suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while under anesthesia. According to the tattoo studio responsible for the procedure, the cardiac event occurred before the tattooing began. Despite immediate efforts to revive him, including intervention by a cardiologist, Ricardo could not be saved.
The studio issued a detailed statement clarifying the circumstances of the procedure. They explained that Ricardo was to undergo a full back tattoo under general anesthesia, requiring sedation and intubation. To ensure safety, they had partnered with a private hospital equipped with the necessary staff, equipment, and anesthetic drugs. Additionally, they had hired an anesthesiologist with expertise in intubation, whose credentials were approved by the hospital. Preliminary blood tests conducted prior to the procedure revealed no apparent risks, and Ricardo had signed a consent form acknowledging the potential dangers.
The news of his passing was confirmed on his official Instagram account, where a statement in Portuguese announced, “It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Ricardo Godoi, which occurred today at 12 pm. In this moment of pain, we sympathize with family and friends, wishing them strength and comfort to endure this irreparable loss.” The statement also promised to share details about his wake and burial soon. It described Ricardo as “an incredible person who left his mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
The tribute highlighted his infectious joy, generosity, and the indelible memories he created with those around him. “His joy, generosity, and light will continue to be present in our memories and every story he helped build. May he rest in peace. Our condolences to family and friends,” it added.
