Will a worm finally trump Donald?

He is unlikely to change his stance on climate change for a namesake worm.

It is just as well that the newly discovered worm-like amphibian species in Panama is blind and tends to stay underground — and does not understand English. That means those creatures now christened 'Dermophis donaldtrumpi' will not have an opinion on being named after the man accused of recklessly downplaying climate change and its ecological impact.

Actually, the temptation to name a bluish limbless amphibian after an orange-tan human is obvious, considering it is weak-eyed to the extent discerning only light and dark (no shades or subtleties), burrows underground (though not for the same reason as its human namesake) and has an extra layer of skin (invariably used for nepotistic purposes). That the person who discovered the worm graciously relinquished the privilege of having it named after her (or him) is understandable.

But, surely, the idea of millions of donaldtrumpis slithering around — instead of just one in the White House — should have deterred the UK-based company that won the right to name the creature at an auction this week? After all, it is not as if the @realDonaldTrump will dramatically reverse his stance on climate change simply because a few million Dermophis donaldtrumpis may soon be officially affected; he would point out they are Panamanian caecilians (pronounced sicilians), not American anyway.
