Why Pizza is making headlines
Outraged public and welfare groups have urged Zhu Xiaodan, the governor of Guangdong Province, to move the bear to a more appropriate environment.

No, not pizza. We are talking about Pizza.
I'm sorry, what?
Pizza is a three-year-old female polargrizzly bear in a shopping mall aquarium in southwestern China.
A polar bear in a mall?
Yeah. The bear paces around its 150-sq m glass-fronted tank and sways her head under artificial lights and crouches by an air vent to sniff the outside world.
That’s cruel. why is she trapped in a mall?
So that visitors at the Guangzhou mall can take selfies with her as she lays on her side in the blue-themed enclosure. Apparently, Pizza’s plight is part of a disturbing trend: exhibiting wild animals in malls to attract customers.
This is just sad.
It is way sadder than it sounds. In fact, global organisations have called Pizza ‘the world's saddest polar bear’.
Sigh! how’s pizza doing?
Not good. The bear is showing signs of mental decline. Experts are saying Pizza is under tremendous stress and her health is deteriorating each day.
What is being done now?
I hope they do something soon.
But Pizza is not the only animal to face distress. Activists released photos of an elephant selling cellphones outside a mall on the outskirts of Beijing and sea lions offered for interactions with shoppers for $75, at another mall.
What is with this mall-zoo cruelty?
So much for people’s obsession with selfies!!!
