Why mud turtle Clyde is making the headlines
Clyde, mud turtle was recently kidnapped from her tank at the Blue Planet Aquarium.

A mud turtle in northwest England.
What about the turtle?
Ms Clyde was recently kidnapped from her tank at the Blue Planet Aquarium.
Kidnapped? By whom?
CCTV footage showed a young boy in Clyde’s aquarium. After a few minutes, he was then seen walking away carrying something under his jumper, which detectives believe was Clyde.
Well, is Clyde ok now?
Yes. She was returned to the aquarium authorities after 22 hours of police investigation.
How did the little boy get hold of Clyde?
The police believe the youngster managed to climb into the tank, pick up the 20-cm-long reptile and leave with it under his jacket.
A reptile heist!
Indeed. In another bizarre incident, four masked vandals let three salt-water crocodiles loose at a school in Australia. They pushed the reptiles through a broken window pane in a fire exit before ransacking the place.
Crocs in school? Fascinating!
What about Clyde’s captors? Will they be fined?
No. The case has been solved based on restorative justice — a system which focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders through reconciliation with victims and the community at large.
So what if i capture a Clyde?
Mud turtles can release a foul-smelling liquid as a defence mechanism against predators. So to get hold of a Clyde, you have to bear the reek, pull off a Rififi and escape the police at one go.
