Grow up, Neymar. That was former German captain Lothar Matthaus’s message for the Brazilian star when he visited Mumbai recently. Neymar’s overreactions during the World Cup made him look like a fool. And going by his hamming in the Champions League game between PSG and Liverpool recently, he hasn’t learned any lessons. “You are not in kindergarten. You are a man,” Matthaus, captain of the 1990 World Cup winning side, said about Neymar.

“We have the VAR (Video Assistant Referees) now and it can catch if somebody is acting. Nobody in this world likes to see Neymar’s antics. He is such a good player. Why does he need to do it? Sure, players commit more fouls against him than others, but this acting we don’t need. This is not a good example for kids watching. I don’t understand why he does it. I like him as a player. But maybe it is his character and we cannot change it.”
