Why Japanese whiskey is making headlines

Obviously, you haven’t heard that the best whiskey in the world is from Japan.

That’s sacrilege. Which whiskey is this?

It’s Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013.

Whatever. But what’s so special about it?

There, there. Even the Scots are not so aghast. Yamazaki was described as a drink of “near incredible genius” with a taste “thick, dry, as rounded as a snooker ball”.

Hmm. And what about scotch whiskeys?

Now, don’t start crying. No Scottish whiskey finished even in the top three. The only consolation is this is the first time this has happened.

Not a good time to be a Scot i guess. Anyway, who is behind this ranking?
