Yes, Cicak and his committee had come to receive an award but it turned into a comedy session when Cicak’s pants disappeared from his waist and ended up slumped around his ankles.

THAT IS WHAT’S CALLED ‘MASS EMBARRASSMENT’

Well, unfortunate but true. Especially when you are posing with the country’s president.

HOW DID GRABARKITAROVIC REACT?

The president somehow managed to keep a straight face and stayed calm even after a quick look, as Cicak bent down to pick up his trousers. Fortunately, she was holding a huge cardlike award — saving Mr Cicak the further indignity.

WHAT A NERVOUS NELLIE.

Don’t misjudge Cicak now. He is Croatia's leading human rights activist and represented Croatia during the 1971 peace conferences, campaigned for the breakdown of Yugoslovia into a confederation of states.

He also fought for an amnesty for political prisoners, and helped develop Croatia's current liberal political landscape.
