Why is the Promobot V2 making headlines

Well, the robot, allegedly 'escaped' from the Promobot research lab in Russia.

Escaped?
Yes. V2 was able to make its great escape because the people in the lab supposedly forgot to close the gates of the facility.

This sounds silly.
But it’s not. V2 is engineered in such a way that it is capable of giving directions and remembering everyone it speaks to. It was taught to move around independently.

So he directed himself out?
Yes. The robot fled to the surrounding roads and made it over 150 ft in about 40 minutes, causing a little traffic jam.

What happened next?
His battery died, leaving him stranded in the middle of the street. Promobot officials finally captured the bot on the run.

Sigh! A bot’s desire for freedom was cut short...
With great power comes great responsibility. It seems this robot simply wasn’t able to shoulder the weight of unfettered movement and made a daring daylight escape the first moment it could.

Is this the rise of the robot revolution?
