Bollywood star John Abraham, known for his action-packed roles and undeniable charm, recently opened up about his humble lifestyle, which remains deeply rooted in his middle-class upbringing. Despite achieving financial success through his films and strategic investments, John continues to lead a life marked by simplicity and modesty. In a candid conversation on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, the actor shared insights into his values and the choices that define his lifestyle.

Value Over Wealth: The Philosophy John Lives By

John emphasized that creating value is far more important than merely accumulating wealth. Reflecting on his upbringing, he said, "Value-creation is more important than wealth-creation. I always say that I'm a middle-class person, not to romanticize my struggles, but to highlight the strength that comes from middle-class values. Being middle-class is an advantage... Make money, generate wealth, but mentally, always remain middle-class."

Despite his success, John’s lifestyle remains understated. He revealed that all his clothing fits into a single suitcase and that he prefers wearing slippers over designer shoes. He drives a pickup truck, a vehicle choice that often puzzles those around him, including his long-time driver. "My driver would often suggest that I buy a more expensive car, but I’d ask him why. When I go for shoots, the production sends an Innova, and my office is just a kilometer away from my house. What would I do with a car worth Rs 4 crore? It’s a depreciating asset, and it will have no bearing on my work," John explained.

John’s approach to life contrasts sharply with the opulent lifestyle often associated with Bollywood celebrities. However, he does not criticize those who enjoy spending money or shopping. "That’s their life state," he remarked. "In my life state, I’m afraid of spending, because of where I come from. I would be scared to spend so much money on shoes and bags. And that’s why I hold back."

Rooted In Experiences: Lessons From Childhood

The actor’s perspective is shaped by his personal experiences, particularly the financial struggles he witnessed during his childhood. He recalled the stress his father endured after being cheated by a business partner, a memory that has stayed with him and reinforced his belief in the importance of financial prudence and staying true to one’s roots.

John’s commitment to simplicity is not just about personal preference; it’s a reflection of his deeply held values. "Everyone is free to choose their lifestyle," he said, "but for me, living a simple life is a choice I make every day."
