Why Infibeam's Vishal Mehta won't ditch Ahmedabad for Bengaluru

While a major chunk of startup heavyweights are based in Bengaluru and Delhi, it's still the Ahmedabad-based Infibeam which has become the first e-commerce company to list with the Securities and Exchange Board of India ( SEBI). So while the ecommerce marketplace platform is busy raising Rs 450 crores through IPO, is Infibeam's founder Vishal Mehta planning to shift to Bengaluru? After all, he'd be joining the likes of other honchos Pranay Chulet, Bhavish Aggarwal, Manu Jain and Kulin Lalbhai who moved to the garden city.

But Mehta's bucking the trend. While Bengaluru has the ecosystem and supply of developers, he admits, the digital world is impervious to boundaries. "We have offices across the country. Everyone was settled over there (Ahmedabad) until we started moving people around," says Mehta, who continues to head the company from its Gujarat headquarters. "Fortunately, we find a lot of people in Ahmedabad as well. There must be a very good reason why they are in Ahmedabad," he says.
