In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Chhaya described the efforts Akshay’s team made to find her, going to several RTO offices with only her name and photograph as clues.
She recalled how Akshay’s assistant called her every day, asking for an interview without disclosing that it was for the actor. At the time, Chhaya was used to media interest, with journalists frequently visiting her home to capture her life as both a homemaker and a rickshaw driver.
At first, Chhaya was reluctant to take part, as her husband had reservations. However, she eventually agreed to the interview. After an entire day of shooting, she was asked to drive Akshay Kumar to the Sun-n-Sand Hotel. To her astonishment, when she reached the location, Akshay was already sitting in her auto rickshaw, waiting for her.
“He asked me how much I make. I gave him a ride in Juhu and dropped him at his house,” she fondly recalled. During the ride, the ‘Khiladi’ encouraged her to visit him. “Akshay told me that I could visit him anytime with my kids and family.” However, she did not get the chance to meet him again.
Akshay Kumar is currently occupied with the production of his upcoming comedy film, ‘Housefull 5’. He is overseas, working alongside the cast and crew of the fifth installment in the ‘Housefull’ series. The franchise began with the first film, directed by Sajid Khan, which premiered in 2010.
