Kunal Ghosh Questions Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal
However, the case has drawn attention not only due to its severity but also due to the apparent silence of certain prominent singers. Kunal Ghosh, a spokesperson for the Trinamool Congress, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to question why renowned singers such as Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, who have previously been vocal on social and political issues, have remained silent regarding this arrest. Ghosh wrote, "Will Arijit, Shreya, and Abhijit, who often speak out on incidents in Bengal, remain silent on Sanjay Chakraborty’s alleged misdeeds? Are they selective revolutionaries?"This comment raised questions about whether these artists are picking and choosing which social issues to address, especially when incidents occur outside of West Bengal. Ghosh’s remarks echo a sentiment shared by many who feel that the silence of such influential figures could be seen as selective in nature, with the focus often placed on regional issues rather than broader, national concerns.
Ghosh has urged these artists to make a statement, questioning whether they would remain silent in the face of serious allegations that impact the music community at large.
