Kennedy Suarez was RJ Mitte’s longtime girlfriend and fiancée. Mitte died on October 12, 2026, at the age of 34. TMZ reported that the Breaking Bad actor died by suicide, citing a county official. The news came two days after the anniversary of his engagement to longtime girlfriend Kennedy Suarez. Mitte proposed to Suarez on October 10, 2025, on her 30th birthday.

Surez worked remotely as a human resources generalist, according to People. Her job allowed her to travel with Mitte for his acting projects and public appearances. Mitte was also an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy.

Before the engagement, the two had been friends for more than a decade. Their relationship became romantic about five years before their engagement, following a trip together when they realized their feelings for each other had changed.

Mitte often posted about their relationship on social media posts. "I'm thrilled to have found my person, my partner in life who makes me want to be better, no matter what we're doing," he told the magazine. "Kennedy is my everything and I can't wait to officially start our life together and see what adventures life takes us on next."

The actor also shared a personal message about their relationship on Instagram after the engagement.

He wrote on Instagram, “I’ve found that love is not always sunshine and rainbows, and for me, what love comes down to is trust and believing in each other, regardless of the situation, during the good times, the bad times, and everything in between!” He also added, “I’ve been grateful for all the love and kindness I have been given over the years, but Kennedy has been the greatest unconditional love no matter what we are going through, no matter what we are facing type love and we face it all together.” He also thanked People for the announcement.

Mitte also posted about Suarez on Valentine's Day in 2026. He shared a message reflecting on their time together and expressing gratitude for the love they shared.

The proposal took place during a charity event rather than a private ceremony at home. The following day, the couple attended the Disability Rights Legal Center’s 50th Anniversary FDR Gala in Los Angeles, according to People.

At the time of the engagement announcement, the couple had not started planning their wedding. The magazine reported that they were enjoying their engagement and life together.

Mitte died at 34 on October 12, 2026, according to reports published that day. His representative confirmed his death in a statement to People, describing him as an actor, philanthropist and disability rights advocate.
