Agni Chopra, son of filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and film critic Anupama Chopra, continues his stellar performance in the Ranji Trophy, cementing his place as one of the most promising young talents in Indian cricket. Representing Mizoram, Agni scored an impressive 218 runs off 269 deliveries in a match against Manipur, further solidifying his reputation as a dependable batter.

Agni’s performance has been nothing short of remarkable in the Ranji Trophy Plate League. He has made a sensational debut in first-class cricket, recording centuries in his first four matches—an achievement that even cricket legends like Don Bradman never accomplished. His initial scores include 105, 101, 114, 164, and 166, along with some smaller contributions. Agni also scored 110 and an unbeaten 238 in Mizoram’s victory over Arunachal Pradesh, helping his team secure a convincing 267-run win.

While some may downplay his achievements due to the Plate League's perceived lower competition, Agni remains focused on his performances. He believes that consistency, regardless of the league or opponents, is the true mark of talent. His ultimate goal is to elevate Mizoram from the Plate League to the Elite League, which hosts the top 32 teams in India’s domestic circuit. Achieving promotion to the Elite division would not only increase the quality of opposition but also validate his efforts in proving his worth on a larger stage.


In addition to his Ranji success, Agni has his sights set on the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he is determined to earn his spot purely on merit. Despite going unsold in the recent IPL auction, he remains undeterred.
