Travel giant Cox & Kings says that it has seen a 25 per cent rise in enquiries for travel spots. . While around 60 per cent of the travellers are planning a domestic holiday, the rest are interested in short-haul international destinations.

And the common thread is that of discovering new, exotic places, Karan Anand, Head, Relationships, Cox & Kings says, "There has been a major shift in the choice of destinations among the domestic weekend travellers. Instead of nearby drivedown destinations, most of them are choosing lesser-known domestic destinations at far-off places."

Destinations such as Auli, Coorg, Vizag with the Araku Valley, Pondicherry and the Kaziranga National Park are suddenly the new favourites. For short-haul overseas vacations, the "have-money-will-travel" lot want to experience Dubai, Singapore, Hong-Kong Macau and Thailand.
