When Vijay Mallya had to settle for a low-key F1 event at Silverstone circuit
Beleaguered spirits baron Vijay Mallya may have found a safe haven in the UK, but that has come at a cost. Known for his passion for fast cars, Mallya had to settle for a low-key event for his F1 team in the Silverstone circuit in UK — a far cry from last year’s do in Barcelona.

The reason? Mallya, who is the team’s principal, had his Indian diplomatic passport revoked in April 2016 after a non-bailable warrant for his arrest was issued. So, though he enjoys an indefinite right of residency in the UK, Mallya was left with no choice but to have the event at Silverstone. What could be another blow for him though are talks that the circuit is suffering losses and it may not host Formula One races in 2018.
