When IITians & hotelier Sanjay Narang came together to make Mussoorie shock-resistant
Several tourists are drawn to the Himalayas, but many of them are wary of visiting the area after last year's Nepal earthquake. Hotelier Sanjay Narang, who lives in Mussoorie, knows the terrain better than most. And he says the local structures are equipped to at least withstand moderate tremors.

"We are in what is called seismic zone 4," Narang said. "The high zone is 5. After Nepal, I would say the awareness went up a bit. But we have been following the guidelines. Engineers from IIT Roorkee do the design and we build to that. All buildings that are restored are reinforced in a manner as to withstand some shocks. Even the original construction of the buildings is quite solid."
