When Falguni Nayar's first boss lugged her bags on official tour

Seeing Falguni Nayar now, as the successful banker-turned-businesswoman and Nykaa CEO, it’s hard to imagine her as a newbie in industry. But, at a recent event in Mumbai, she shared with ETPanache how she too had her share of nerves when she started out and would literally hold on to her work, in the off chance that it went missing.

“When I first started working, my boss and I were travelling together, and I had a very heavy bag. It had all my presentation copies and I refused to check it in in case it got lost.”

She was determined nothing would ruin her big moment at the presentation – even if the means were a little awkward for her. “I spent the whole time holding it close and though my boss was angry that I didn’t check the bag in, he was chivalrous and insisted he carry it for me. This caused me to be so embarrassed because my top boss was lugging around my bags,” Nayar said.

Quite the rarity — a boss with a big heart and big muscles too.
