When cricket writer Gideon Haigh partied at Russell Crowe's 'huge' apartment
The acclaimed cricket writer Gideon Haigh is in India to cover the India-Australia series. The other day he was in Mumbai to promote an Australian cricket attraction. While many Indians have read his work, some got to hear him speak at the event. And then over cocktails, Haigh, who bears a resemblance to the actor Tim Roth, shared an anecdote involving another movie star. Rather, his home. Haigh recounted a party held at the Sydney apartment of Russell Crowe, the cousin brother of the late Martin Crowe, during the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. “Russell wasn’t there but he offered Martin and his wife the use of his apartment while they were in Australia,” Haigh said. “It was near the Sydney Opera House and there was nothing apartment like about it. It was huge, with a full staff to serve guests.”

Martin Crowe, who died of cancer in March 2016, was enjoying his last few months of good health at the time. “I expected him to be frail by then but he was a big guy,” Haigh said. “He was well enough to have a good time at the party.”.
