Initial reports suggested cardiac-related issues along with pulmonary concerns, prompting concern among fans. However, her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, later clarified the situation through a social media update, stating that the veteran singer had been admitted due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. She added that Asha Bhosle is currently under medical care, with treatment underway, and requested privacy for the family during this time. The update further assured well-wishers that her condition is being monitored closely and that positive updates would be shared when appropriate.

As fans and the music industry wish Asha Bhosle a speedy recovery, an old anecdote of the singer has once again surfaced online, drawing renewed attention to her personal life, as per a report by PTI.

Asha Bhosle wanted to be a housewife

An intriguing detail mentioned in music historian Raju Bharatan’s book Asha Bhosle: A Musical Biography, published by Hay House, revisits a lesser-known phase of the singer’s life. According to the account, shortly after her marriage to Ganpatrao Bhosle, the singer had considered stepping away from her musical career to focus entirely on her household responsibilities, becoming a housewife.

The biography notes that Asha Bhosle expressed a desire to dedicate herself to raising her first child, Hemant, and managing her home. However, it is mentioned that her husband did not support the idea of her quitting music and insisted that she continue her singing career. The book suggests that, left to her own choice, she might have walked away from playback singing altogether, an alternate path that could have changed the course of Indian music history.
