When Archer met Archer

Those of us in Mumbai are all too familiar with the sight of young kids selling pirated books at traffic signals. It’s a discomforting sight, surely, for a bestselling author. Not for Jeffrey Archer though.

Archer was on his way to the hotel from Mumbai airport when a young kid knocked on his window at the traffic signal. Archer rolled down the window, only to be asked, “Would you like the latest Jeffrey Archer?” His reply: “I am the latest Jeffrey Archer.” As he related the incident to much laughter from the audience, he added, “This is the Indian enterprise. The next generation of Indians.”.
