When an industry veteran is torn between self-awareness and responsibilities

That disclaimer about an individual’s views not reflecting company policy exists for a reason. And it rings truer in this instance than any other.

While the company has a monumental government project on its hand, the opinion of a veteran — whose stature in the organisation is as high as the memorial in question — has left others all at sea.

In private, the gentleman feels that the money allocated for such towering projects can be put to better use.


But, on the other hand, he knows that if it weren’t his company, someone else would execute the project anyway. So, why not them?

After all, there are enough zeroes on the cheque to warrant the company’s involvement. A double-edged sword, this.
