When actor Jackky Bhagnani met Malala Yousafzai

A documentary on Nobel prize winner Malala Yousafzai has gathered acclaim since its premiere at the Telluride film festival in the USA on September 4, and we’ve heard of a close encounter back home. Actor Jackky Bhagnani, who made a faux pas on Twitter last year by referring to Malala as “Masala”, is now in London to meet with his “idol”.

Bhagnani got the opportunity via a video he made in July 12 to rectify his blunder. Part of a tribute for Malala on her 18th birthday, it was titled ‘Ye Malala Ke Baare Mein Hai, masala ke baare mein nahi!’ and showed the actor teaching school children all about the girl who stood up against the Taliban. The video, once tweeted, had both Malala and her father call Bhagnani up, showing appreciation for turning a gaffe into a positive video. The actor has kept it all hush-hush, but ETPanache has heard he’s finally meeting his “inspiration” face to face. Well, he can’t blame autocorrect if he gets her name wrong this time.
