What on earth is the prawn sandwich brigade?

Last week, the Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger was reported to have accused retired club legend and commentator Thierry Henry of joining "the prawn sandwich brigade". Wenger did not use the phrase, but it summarised his comments about Henry talking about the pulse of the terraces while himself sitting in a VIP box.

The prawn sandwich brigade is a jibe at elites who sit in corporate boxes nibbling on a presumably snobbish snack like prawn sandwiches. Roy Keane, the hottempered, sailor-mouthed former captain of Manchester United, is credited with introducing the idiom.
