Wednesday Season 3 OTT release update: When will Jenna Ortega's Addams Family show reveal what happens after Enid's alpha werewolf transformation

The ending of Wednesday Season 2 left Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams facing two mysteries that could dictate her next adventure in Season 3. First was to find her best friend Enid Sinclair and second was to find out the truth about her missing aunt, Ophelia. With Enid fleeing after transforming into an alpha werewolf and Wednesday discovering that Ophelia is alive, the Netflix series has set up another chapter filled with supernatural secrets and family reveals.

The wait for the next instalment has already begun, and there is some progress in terms of its release date. Filming for Wednesday Season 3 has already wrapped up.

Wednesday Season 3 OTT release

Wednesday Season 3 is expected to be released in 2027 during the summer time. But this is not an official announcement from Netflix and it is just an estimated timeline based on the production and release schedules of Season 1 and 2.

As with the first two seasons, the upcoming chapter will stream exclusively on Netflix. The platform has confirmed that production has concluded, but a specific release date and the schedule for the new episodes remain unknown.

Enid's transformation

One of the biggest cliff-hangers of the Season 2 finale involved Enid Sinclair, played by Emma Myers. After briefly swapping bodies with Wednesday to help her survive a dangerous premonition, Enid eventually transformed into an alpha werewolf to save her friend.

The transformation left Enid unable to return to her human form. She fled towards the Canadian border, forcing Wednesday to make a decision that instead of returning home for the summer, she along with Uncle Fester and Thing will go and search for her missing friend.

This unresolved storyline gives Season 3 an immediate question to address upon its release; whether Wednesday can find Enid and what the transformation means for their friendship.

Aunt Ophelia's mystery

Enid's disappearance was not the only cliffhanger in the finale. Wednesday also discovered a disturbing secret about her family after reading her aunt Ophelia's journal.

It was revealed that Morticia Addams’ long lost sister, Ophelia, was alive and being hidden in the basement of Grandmama Hester’s house. The words 'Wednesday Must Die', written on a wall, seemed to point out that her story could have serious consequences for Wednesday.

Eva Green will play Ophelia in the upcoming season. Her character is expected to play a major part in the new storyline, potentially bringing more of the Addams family's secrets to light.

Winona Ryder joins Jenna Ortega in Season 3

Season 3 will also introduce several new faces, including Winona Ryder as a character named Tabitha. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Ortega described Tabitha as "strange", while indicating that the character's unusual nature was not typically "Addams-y". Netflix has not disclosed further details about her role.

Ryder's casting reunites her with Ortega and director Tim Burton after their work together on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Other newcomers include Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, James Lance, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer.

Meanwhile, Ortega is returning as Wednesday, alongside Myers as Enid. The returning cast also includes Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams.

Is Wednesday Season 3 the final season?

The completion of filming has also led to speculation about the show's future. Jenny Ayumi, Ortega's longtime stunt double on the series, shared an Instagram Story that read, "End of an era.. A 5 year chapter finally comes to a close". She later deleted the post.

However, Netflix has not announced that the series is ending, and its plans beyond the upcoming season remain unclear.
