Congress MP Shashi Tharoor throws about eloquent tweets, peppered with extraordinary vocabulary that serves as rich fodder for social media.

Here are the top four from Tharoor's personal dictionary this year:

Exasperating Farrago

Meaning: Intensely irritating; infuriating' 'confused mixture.

This one spawned jokes and memes like no other. Commenting on a certain TV news anchor's attacks on him, Tharoor had tweeted "Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations & outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist."

Puritanical patriarchy

Meaning: Displaying a very strict or censorious moral attitude.

Reacting to a Kerala college student's suspension over a hug, Tharoor lashed out on Twitter, giving us another gem — "Puritanical patriarchy run rampant. By sexualizing innocent affection between friends & fellow students, we are creating self-conscious hypocrites trained to suppress their feelings. And in this case, damaging a student's academic career."

Rodomontade

Meaning: Boastful or inflated talk or behaviour.

This one was a long time coming. In an attempt to justify his ample usage of big words, Tharoor, unwittingly, gave social media some more fodder. "… I choose my words because they are the best ones for the idea I want to convey, not the most obscure or rodomontade ones," he tweeted.

Webaqoof

Meaning: One who believes every claim or allegation on the internet must be true

Showing a penchant for some wordplay this time in Hinglish, Tharoor tweeted a term 'Webaqoof' that caught Twitter's eye. This time around, he borrowed this word from a website, urbandictionary.
