Paying a heartfelt tribute to veteran actor-comic Jagdeep, megastar Amitabh Bachchan sent out a tweet, mourning his demise, saying the Hindi film industry lost "another gem" in his death.

Jagdeep died on Wednesday at his residence at the age of 81.

The thespian took to his blog on Tumblr to pay homage to the late actor. "Last night we lost another gem. Jagdeep... the actor of exceptional comedic repertoire, passed away."

"He had crafted a unique individual style of his own... and I had the honour of working with him in several films... the more prominent ones in the eyes of the audience being 'Sholay' and 'Shahenshah'," Bachchan wrote in his blog.

"A humble human... loved by millions. My duas and my prayers," he added.

Singer Adnan Sami paid a video tribute to the late actor, where visuals from his hit song 'Life Kara De' were juxtaposed with hilarious comic scenes of Jagdeep. 'Heaven won't have a dull moment,' wrote Sami.

Madhuri Dixit Nene also sent out a tweet remembering the late actor-comic. 'Thank you for the decades of laughter & entertainment,' wrote Dixit.
