Kajol has always been unabashed in speaking her mind. The actress, who is credited to several blockbuster films in Bollywood, is also a mother to 23-year-old daughter Nysa and 15-year-old son Yug Devgn, whom she shares with her husband, actor Ajay Devgn. Now, Kajol, in a recent interview with Lilly Singh on her YouTube podcast, has shared her opinions about how Gen Z functions in today’s world, how they are different than millennials and also revealed key parenting hacks she learned while raising her two children.

Kajol shares her two cents on Gen Z

During the candid conversation, Kajol said that Gen Z is currently dealing with an overload of information, especially in the age of social media. The actress added that her generation was different. During that time, when internet access was not readily available, people primarily got information through their parents or someone older. So over time, they had to make up their own minds, whether it was ethics or boundaries and things they could and couldn’t do.

On the contrary, Gen Z is always bombarded with information from everywhere. ‘They are just swimming, unable to make a decision about what these things are,’ she cited. Although they have the basic knowledge of certain things like what’s right and what’s wrong, Kajol, however, pointed out that the younger generation is clueless about what they actually want. The actress emphasised that Gen Z needed to make up their minds by thinking independently and deciding for themselves, instead of constantly relying on social media.

Kajol on her bond with daughter Nysa Devgn

Speaking about raising her daughter, Nysa, Kajol revealed that there had been differences between them in the past, but they worked out the issues eventually. The actress stated that when Nysa was 12, she and Kajol would have lots of fights, both being ‘irrational’ and ‘illogical at times’.

‘We both struggled for nearly three years,’ admitted Kajol before she finally cracked the parenting hack. Gradually, their conversations got longer and Kajol realised that she needed to listen more to her daughter. ‘It was just about giving her space to talk herself and to be heard. That made the biggest difference. That was my biggest learning,’ confessed the actress.

Workwise, Kajol will next be seen in Charan Tej Uppalapati’s Maharagni: Queen of Queens alongside Prabhu Deva, Naseeruddin Shah, Samyuktha, and Jisshu Sengupta, among others.
