Big B was overcome with emotion as his family treated him to a birthday party on the 'KBC' sets.
Amitabh Bachchan, who turned 80 on October 11, had countless fans and well-wishers wishing him a happy-birthday. But the most special of birthday wishes came from his family who planned a surprise bash for the ‘living legend’. His son Abhishek and wife Jaya visited the sets of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ for an impromptu birthday celebration. The special episode was aired on the superstar’s birthday.
The ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ actor made quite a grand entry in the episode. “Kabhi Kabhie mere dil me khayal ata hai, ki apke samne yeh dil kyu bachcha ban jata hai’, Abhishek Bachchan said in a small poem before greeting a pleasantly surprised Big B.
The ‘Manmarziyaan’ actor showed a small clip to the audience. The video encapsulated his childhood with his father and how the latter had been a pillar of support in his career. The video had a voiceover of the Big B’s father, the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Abhishek also delivered a short emotional speech where he thanked his father for his unconditional support and love and promised to be his “biggest lifeline”. “Your bed was my playground. I used to fight with you for toys and roll on the ground to get my wish fulfilled. Remember Paa, when you would extend your finger towards me in the crowd? You used to scold me when I got sick. You opened not just your arms but your heart for me,” he was quoted as saying.
The normally stoic Big B was overcome with emotion at the gesture.
Bachchan Jr treated his fans to an adorable behind-the-scenes of the birthday bash on his Instagram. In the video, the ‘Guru’ star could be seen planning the birthday party with the ‘KBC’ crew on sets and rehearsing his lines. Bachchan Sr is also seen cutting the cake as he is cheered on by his son and wife. Bachchan Jr also shared a post along with the video. “It took a lot of secrecy, a lot of planning, a lot of hard-work and a lot of rehearsals to get it right. But then again, he deserves no less! It was very emotional to be able to surprise dad and celebrate his 80th Birthday at the place he loves the most, his workplace. My gratitude to the entire team of Sony and Kaun Banega Crorepati for helping me do this and making tonight's episode so special for my father. Do try and see it if possible. KBC on 11th October at 9 pm IST only on Sony TV, ’’ read the post.
This is not the first time the ‘Bluffmaster’ actor had treated his father with a surprise visit on the set. On September 12, the actor shared a post on how he had sprung surprise visits on his father over the years. “ "Some things never change! Well, I guess apart from height and facial hair. Surprise visits to his set will always be one of my most favourite things to do,” read the post.
