The video clip was collected by Pablo Torre in his podcast "Pablo Torre Finds Out”. Based on the time stamp, it can be noted that Clarkson arrived at "Art of Play" at about 2:49 p.m. on October 10 and left there at about 2:54 p.m. Her visit there took four minutes and 50 seconds.
According to the video, 44-year-old Clarkson can be seen wearing a large bright yellow T-shirt, loose jeans, a baseball cap, and a backpack. She is walking around the crowded store accompanied by two children.
At first, the singer examines several items on display. In one moment, she picks up what appears to be a kaleidoscope and holds it to her eye to look through it before continuing around the store.
The footage then shows Clarkson stopping in front of a wall-mounted mechanical singing bird known as Molly. She appears to attract the attention of a male employee and speaks with him while pointing towards the display.
The employee gestures towards something outside the camera’s clear view before the two move away from each other. The interaction lasts less than a minute.
Video shows Clarkson gesturing before leaving
After the interaction, Clarkson moves away from the display and continues looking around. The employee appears to point towards another item elsewhere in the shop, but Clarkson is facing away from him at that moment. He subsequently turns his attention to other customers.
She then moves back toward the front of the shop and seems to put back the merchandise that she had been looking at. Before leaving the shop, she turns around to speak to another employee who is standing near the counter.
Another video taken outside the shop shows Clarkson taking out her phone after she leaves the shop. Her first post about the incident occurred approximately 15 minutes after that.
Why the encounter sparked a public dispute
Clarkson initially accused the store of treating her as though she could not afford an item she wanted to buy. In a post on X, she compared the experience to Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman and claimed an employee had offered to find her something comparable instead.
Art of Play disputed her account, saying Molly was a permanent fixture used in its magic shows and was not for sale. The store also described the incident as a misunderstanding. Clarkson subsequently challenged the business’s explanation, insisting that the conversation had involved a $15,000 price tag.
