A heartwarming moment emerged when a group of underprivileged children from a Lucknow slum recreated a bridal campaign by renowned fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Inspiration Behind the Project
The video was shared by Innovation For Change, a Lucknow-based NGO that works with over 400 slum children, providing free education and opportunities for creative expression. In the viral video, the children recreated Sabyasachi's ‘Heritage Bridal’ collection, wearing dresses made from donated clothes. The garments were carefully designed by the children themselves, who used their ingenuity to transform old clothes into beautiful bridal wear.
On Instagram, Innovation For Change explained, "These kids come from extremely poor and helpless families. They create designer dresses through their creativity by sorting out clothes they receive from locals and people in the neighborhood. After watching Sabyasachi's latest video, they were inspired to recreate something similar."
The children, aged 12 to 17, not only designed the dresses but also took charge of filming the video. The 15-year-old filmmakers from the group worked on developing their camera skills, capturing the moments of the models confidently strutting in their homemade bridal pieces. The NGO expressed their pride, noting that the young filmmakers are working hard to refine their craft, with this video being a significant milestone.
