Watch: How did pet dogs in Nainital save their family from a leopard

In a stunning display of bravery, a group of pet dogs in Nainital saved their family from a potential tragedy by driving away a leopard that tried to enter their home. The dramatic encounter was captured on CCTV and shared on X by @Nishantjournali on July 31.

The video starts with one of the dogs relaxing near the gate when it suddenly notices the leopard. Alert and quick to respond, the dog charges at the leopard, attempting to fend it off alone. The leopard reacts aggressively, pouncing toward the brave dog.

The X user captioned the video, "The king of the jungle ran away to save his life from the dogs. Look..,"


As the confrontation escalates, two more dogs rush to aid their companion. Together, they launch an attack on the leopard, forcing it to retreat. Despite making a second attempt to enter, the leopard is ultimately driven away by the dogs' relentless defense.

The footage also shows a resident cautiously stepping outside to ensure the leopard has left, visibly relieved and safe thanks to the dogs' heroism.

A similar incident was reported in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, in June, where a dog courageously chased away a leopard that had approached a home in Rahuri taluka. The video, shared by ANI, also garnered significant attention for highlighting the protective nature of pet dogs.
